On the occasion of World Consumer Rights Day, which is observed internationally on March 15th, the MCCAA’s Office for Consumer Affairs will host a half-day conference titled ‘Empowering consumers in the digital and green transition.’
Consumers today have unrestricted access to a diverse array of novel and creative goods and services. This fact necessitates the adoption of updated consumer standards that appropriately protect consumers and eliminate legal loopholes. The new Sale of Goods and Digital Content Regulations, which take effect on 1st January 2022, have provided European consumers with a common set of rules that protect them when purchasing goods with digital components and ensure their right to conformity with the contract of sale for digital content or services. The conference will address the significance and ramifications of these new policies for consumers and local industry.
