In 2024, Tech.mt continued to drive the growth of Malta’s digital sector through dedicated support for local businesses, active involvement in international arenas, and strategic collaboration with key stakeholders.
As a trusted enabler within the ecosystem, Tech.mt expanded its Strategic Partnership Initiative to include 49 consulting partners, providing start-ups and SMEs with easier access to expert guidance. The Tech.mt directory also saw steady growth, welcoming nearly 80 new companies and now representing over 480 members. Throughout the year, more than 380 businesses benefited from tailored support and funding advisory services.
On the international stage, the inMalta initiative had a strong presence at 4 high-profile technology events; Dublin Tech Summit, London Tech Week, GITEX Global, and Web Summit. These platforms offered Maltese tech businesses invaluable opportunities to showcase their services, build strategic partnerships, and engage with global investors and industry leaders. These efforts not only supported participating businesses in expanding their international reach but also contributed to positioning Malta as an attractive destination for foreign direct investment in the digital and technology sectors. The inMalta programme continues to serve as a key driver of economic diplomacy, fostering trust, opening doors for cross-border collaboration, and reinforcing Malta’s reputation as a launchpad for tech-driven innovation on a global scale.
On the local front, Tech.mt organised or supported 29 events aimed at advancing the digital industry and promoting digital education, reinforcing skills development, and deepening community engagement across the sector. In parallel, 8 targeted awareness campaigns and involvement in 2 EU-funded projects, including the flagship CybARverse initiative, allowed us to actively promote digital careers, inclusion, and next-generation cybersecurity training through immersive and hands-on experiences. The year concluded with our End-of-Year Networking Reception, celebrating collective achievements and setting a bold vision for 2025.
Tech.mt’s strategy for 2025 will focus on further accelerating Malta’s digital growth, with a strong emphasis on raising international awareness of the country’s technology sector. In the year ahead, our communications and initiatives will revolve around 3 core priorities:
- Promote Malta’s tech sector globally to attract investment and raise international recognition;
- Help startups grow by providing targeted support, visibility and opportunities to scale;
- Support the development of digital skills and the integration of research into real-world business applications.
