A training session focused on the protection of different types of Intellectual Property Rights in China
Intellectual Property constitutes an important business asset for SMEs as it provides with comparative advantage over competitors and protects a company’s innovation. A strong IPR strategy and proactive preparation not only helps to prevent IPR-related issues but, may also result in increased revenue as well as more effective and quick enforcement in the case of an infringement.
When entering the Chinese market many SMEs transfer their innovative technology, may it be through licensing, establishing joint ventures or through R&D collaborations. Recent IP laws and regulations adopted by the Chinese Government facilitate bringing innovative technology to China. Nevertheless, transferring technology to China involves IP risks which SMEs should be aware of to avoid losing their competitive advantage due to loss of IP to competitors.
Tech.mt is pleased to invite Malta-based businesses to a specialised 40-minute training session run by an expert of the China IPR SME Helpdesk. The objective of the training is to provide an overview of protection of different types of Intellectual Property Rights in China (trademarks, copyrights, patents, trade secrets), the latest technology transfer conditions as well as to discuss the role of various contracts in protecting IP when transferring technology to China. The training session will be followed by a Q&A session where the IP expert will answer all questions by the audience.
