Community Innovation

CybARverse

CybARverse is a strategic partnership project funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union. Digital literacy along with a responsible and safe use of technology is promoted by the Digital Education Action Plan (Action 7). The Digital Education Action Plan (2021-2027) is a renewed European Union (EU) policy initiative that sets out a common vision of high-quality, inclusive and accessible digital education in Europe, and aims to support the adaptation of the education and training systems of Member States to the digital age.

This project will therefore support the cyber-resilience of Vocational Education and Training (VET) for the organisations involved. To ensure that Cybersecurity knowledge is put into practice, this initiative makes use of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) to support cybersecurity awareness and literacy in a more efficient way, as well as to transfer knowledge to professional competences.

The project provides cybersecurity awareness and literacy for vocational training staff in working with digital tools.

Objective 1
To promote professional, personal and digital skills among VET teachers and trainers for the field of cybersecurity.

Objective 2
Aim is the media-pedagogical enrichment of cybersecurity training within up to 16 tailor-made teaching and training scenarios.

Objective 3
Structures qualification of up to 80 VET teachers and trainers to become cybersecurity aware and literate.

Objective 4
To ensure the sustainability of the project results.

Tech.mt’s main role in the project is the CybARverse Academy.

Tasks leading to the creation of the academy will involve a holistic Quality Assurance Plan followed by:

  • Analysis of the organisational capacity for establishing a CybARverse academy (SELFIE test & roadmap)
  • Development and testing of national CybARverse academy training offers (on-/offline)
  • Best practise guide

Online Course Content and Structure

The CybARverse training framework offers an engaging and educational experience designed to develop digital literacy and practical cybersecurity skills using AR and VR technologies.

The curriculum combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on cybersecurity applications, progressively structured across three levels to deepen skills and understanding. Each module builds on the previous, with realistic scenarios powered by AR/VR/WebVR for learners to apply their skills. Videos serve as an effective medium for illustrating complex cybersecurity concepts, demonstrating real-world applications. Case studies illustrate real-world relevance, and quizzes follow each level to assess readiness for advancement. Successfully passing a quiz in each training level is required to earn a course certificate for each level.

Overview of Training Levels

The course includes 17 modules divided into three progressive levels, allowing learners to choose the one(s) that best suit their experience:

  1. Beginner Level: Introduces basic concepts of digital literacy and cybersecurity, ideal for educators and trainers new to digital tools. It provides a foundation for advanced learning.
  2. Intermediate Level: Builds on foundational knowledge with more complex cybersecurity protocols and digital practices. Participants engage in AR and VR scenarios that simulate cyber threats, enhancing problem-solving and analytical skills.
  3. Advanced Level: Designed for those with a solid understanding of digital tools and cybersecurity. This level covers specialised topics like threat analysis, advanced coding, and the strategic application of cybersecurity measures in educational environments.
