Malta represents a favourable value proposition to businesses. The technology sector in Malta contributes healthily to the local GDP. Malta’s economy remains strong and attractive; last year close to 80% of foreign investors perceived Malta as an attractive destination to invest – this is actually an increase of 3% over 2018. The number of technology companies opening in Malta is increasing year on year and so is the number of people they employ.
This is a very niche sector and the skillset required is specific. Malta ranks highly among the European Union leaders in terms of technology specialists. Seven percent of all the Maltese graduates choose technology. Although Malta is on the forefront of producing skills to the technology sector it is still not enough, the demand from the sector is not being met.
