Lava.mt is Malta & Gozo’s largest online marketplace giving customers access to a great choice of products from some of Malta’s top retailers. It is a one-stop shop with over 40,000 products from a range of categories including: DIY & Tools, Electronics & Computers, Furniture, Garden & Outdoor, Health, Beauty & Personal Care, Home, Pets, Toys and Baby. The website aims to have the best variety, carrying products from renowned global brands, including Apple, Samsung, LG, Lego, Russell Hobbs and Dyson, just to name a few.
Lava.mt is the winner of the Best eCommerce Website (B2C) in The Malta eBusiness Awards 2021.
Value added features and benefits
Lava.mt was born out of a need to meet the demands of a thriving e-commerce market in Malta. Aside from being the largest online marketplace locally, the website also integrates with Lava Rewards, a popular rewards scheme with 100K members. This gives customers the option to collect points on their Lava.mt purchases and redeem them as money off their next online purchase.
Customers are also offered customized and responsive landing pages for brands (e.g. https://lava.mt/dyson-store/) and vendors (e.g. https://lava.mt/stores/intercomp/), multivendor checkout processes, a robust consumer support ticketing system for assistance throughout the entire website, and a function that allows them to add items to their wishlist and receive reminder emails and notifications when a wished product goes on sale or is back in stock. The predictive and responsive product search also contributes to a superior user experience.
Future updates and implementations
We are always looking to improve the technology and the overall user experience. Future updates will include the integration with additional vendors, growth in the product portfolio and range of categories and the introduction of coupons. Moreover, the system is built to learn from user behaviour, with the intention of eventually offering individual customers a tailored view when they visit the website as well as personalised marketing communication.
