Episode 7: Managing a Cyberattack (Security Breach or Hacking Incident)

Tech.mt - October 26, 2021 - 0 comments

Incident Response is the methodology that an organisation uses to respond to and manage a cyberattack.

Incident Response aims to limit the damage and recover from a cyberattack as quickly as possible. Investigation is also a key component in order to learn from the attack and take any necessary precautionary measures that would avoid similar events in the future.

Incident Response includes several stages, including:

  • preparation for incidents;
  • detection and analysis of a security incident;
  • containment;
  • eradication and full recovery; and
  • post-incident analysis and learning.

Having an Incident Response Plan helps to reduce downtime, maintain public trust, have targeted security monitoring, avoid penalties and remain in compliance.
