Why is it important?
Augmented reality is evolving and becoming increasingly prevalent across a wide variety of applications. Games such as Pokemon GO have used this technology to let the characters appear in the real world; shopping apps use it to let you try clothes on virtually or even see how a piece of furniture will look in your home. In sports, AR lets the broadcasters draw virtual lines on the field to help illustrate and analyse the players’ actions.
